Frankie Ballard announced as new headliner for Military Appreciation Concert at Firestone Country Club on Friday, June 20
Akron, Ohio – Tournament officials announced today that country music singer/songwriter and guitarist Frankie Ballard will replace Conner Smith as the headline act for “A Night in Nashville,” honoring veterans and first responders at Folds of Honor Friday on June 20 during the Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone Country Club.
“As Conner Smith takes time to privately process recent events, he will unfortunately not be performing in Akron on June 20. We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this difficult time,” said William Morris Endeavor (WME) in a statement released to the tournament.
Best known for his chart-topping hits "Sunshine & Whiskey," "Helluva Life" and "Young & Crazy," Ballard rose to national fame as one of Nashville's most electrifying performers, captivating fans with his infectious energy and guitar-driven sound. After years of touring and nearly a decade since his last full-length album, he returned with "The Messenger" in March, a new release that blends country with gospel, blues and rock 'n' roll.
“We are excited to welcome Frankie Ballard to the Kaulig Companies Championship for what should be an incredible evening for our fans and partners,” said Executive Director Don Padgett III. “This event combines live music with an opportunity to honor the men and women who serve our country, which presents a great experience for everyone onsite.”
A happy hour will kick off the evening with the concert taking place in the expanded Kaulig Infinity Zone, located next to the water tower at Firestone Country Club. The show will start at approximately 6 p.m. (after golf has concluded for the day) with Akron’s own, The Shootouts opening. The Shootouts, who are known for their energetic fusion of Americana, roots rock, and country, released a new album, “Switchback” last month.
With one ticket, two experiences, admission to the concert is included with a Friday tournament ticket. Active U.S. military and veterans and first responders, as well as one guest, can attend the Kaulig Companies Championship for free, after registering online at kauligchampionship.com. In addition, ages 18 and under receive complimentary admission courtesy of Akron Children’s.
